Pierre Hélou started his professional career at a very young age, after the untimely death of his father. He had to give up university studies to run the family business. Hélou who is a professional contractor distinguished himself by his penchant for industry in Lebanon and abroad.

On the international level

1952 - 1958	In Iraq, where he traded in building materials
1958 - 1968	He acquired a worldwide pharmaceuticals plant (Switzerland, Italy, Pakistan, Mexico)
1962 - 1965	- In Kuwait, where he created « Gulf Fisheries », a fleet of 140 ships - Pierre Hélou is selected among the first 17 foreigners to join Lloyd's as a « Name » or underwriter
1980 - 1989	He came back to the pharmaceutical industry, having left it in 1974, through his acquisition of a factory in Geneva

In Lebanon

1948 - to this day	Chairman of the board of the « Industrial Lebanese Company » (SILA), an iron and steel plant
1950	Elected member of the « Lebanese Association of Industrialists »
1960	Elected member of the « Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Beirut »
